Helena Casanova studied at the Polytechnic University of Madrid, Spain, in the Faculty of Architecture (ETSAM).
In 2001, together with Jesus Hernandez, she founded Casanova+Hernandez Architects in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, to develop projects at very different scales, from territorial plans to landscape interventions, through architectural projects based on a symbiotic combination between architecture, urbanism and landscape architecture. In 2011 she expanded the firm by creating the Casanova+Hernandez Think Tank, an independent research platform to professionally analyze locally relevant sociopolitical, historical and financial issues.
She has been visiting professor at the Berlage Institute, TU Delft, the Shenzhen University of Architecture, the Lebanese American University, and the University of Navarra, Spain, among others.
